Picture your mind and spirit as this glass. All the negativity, criticisms, bad breaks and crappy situations life and this world throw at you is the dirt and grime that fogs the otherwise clear glass.
How do you get the glass clear again? Rinsing in clean water is a start. Dump the dirt. More clean water, dump it out. Repeat.
What is the clean water in this analogy? Personal development. Clean up your mind and your spirit by flooding your brain with positive, uplifting thoughts. Read a book, listen to a podcast, watch a sermon on TV. Whatever fills your glass with clean water.
The cycle won’t end. We’ll always hear something negative. Or sometimes life will punch you in the face. You can’t always avoid it, but you can always battle it, overwhelm it and overcome it.
I’ve listened to lots of podcasts and now read at least 2 non-fiction books per month for this exact reason. Some of the ones on my list for 2016:
- “Boundaries” by Henry Cloud
- “You Can, You Will” by Joel Osteen
- “Seven” by Jen Hatmaker
- “Soul Pancake” by Rainn Wilson
What are you reading right now? What have you read in the past that you LOVE and want to share? Let me know! I’m always adding to my list.
